Process

From the moment you step into our showroom to post-installation, The Granite Company makes it easy to bring your vision of stone to life. Because we do everything in-house, we control the entire process: stone selection, pricing, fabrication, and installation. The Granite Company works closely with homeowners, homebuilders, and interior designers to enhance living spaces with the beauty and durability of stone. Here’s what you need to know about The Granite Company’s process.

Granite Countertop Design & Selection

  • Start with a drawing of your kitchen, bathroom, or wherever you want to install granite or stone accents. The drawing doesn’t need to be fancy or show exact measurements. Simply provide enough detail for us to determine how much material your project requires.
  • Bring your drawing to our spacious showroom on Taylor Street in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Our design consultants will ask questions and listen to your ideas. Then, they will show you different options for countertop edges, backsplashes, sinks, and other features. 
  • While the design consultants develop a cost estimate, you get to have some fun! Browse our indoor showroom and outdoor lot to view our large selection of countertop materials. We display about a thousand slabs of granite in our outside lot. Additionally, we feature about 1,000 colors of quartz inside our showroom.
  • Our consultant will present your estimate and explain the cost of your project based on the granite, quartz, or other material you select. They will answer any questions and offer assistance to select the right stone for your home. 

Scheduling, Templating & Fabricating

  • When it’s time to move forward with your project, we collect a 50% deposit. Once we receive your down payment, we will schedule your project for templating and installation. While time frames vary throughout the year, we do our best to complete your project in a timely fashion.
  • Next comes countertop templating. Our technicians will visit your residence, measure your countertop with our laser, and go over all the details. The sink and faucet locations are critical to accurate templating. If you purchased a sink from us, we will have the dimensions we need. If you purchased a sink and faucet elsewhere, please make sure the sink and faucet are on site for templating.
  • If you have selected a stone that has a pronounced or sweeping pattern, we will invite you to our fabrication shop the morning after your template date to do a layout. We will place your stone in our fabrication shop, put your template on top and determine how the final product should look in your home. Please talk to your consultant to schedule your layout appointment. 
  • Our experienced technicians fabricate your stone to your exact specifications. Using our computer-aided, laser-cutting technology, we cut the stone to perfectly fit your space. To create a smoother, sleeker edge, we hand polish countertops, instead of machine polishing.

Plumbing & Installation 

  • Approximately one week after templating, our installation team will expertly install your granite countertops, shower walls, fireplace surrounds, or other stone accents. 
  • For kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects, we ask you to remove old countertops and disconnect the plumbing before the install date. If you prefer, The Granite Company can remove the countertop for a nominal charge. Additionally, we can recommend licensed plumbers, carpenters, home remodelers, and other contractors to perform these tasks. The Granite Company does not do any plumbing. So, be sure to schedule a licensed plumber to disconnect and reconnect plumbing fixtures.
